01 Dec Gatherings | Hosting the Ultimate Dinner Party
Chilly weather, changing leaves, and cozy nights by the fireplace can only mean one thing: the Holidays are fast approaching, and with them invariably comes the task of holiday entertaining.
I love the holiday season—the dinner gatherings, pretty spread and time spent with friends and family. There’s nothing that makes people closer quite like a dinner shared amongst loved ones. The secret to creating a truly picturesque and magical experience is a little ingenuity and creativity with styling. But do so in a way where you can showcase the uniqueness of the reclaimed piece. Here are a few ideas to get your creative juices flowing this year.
GREENERY – We live for this (and when I say we, I mean my fiancé)! As simple as it may sound, you can never go wrong with a gorgeous garland of greens laid out on a table. Add a shimmer of light with small tea candles in mini mason jars to illuminate your decorations and reclaimed table. From eucalyptus to fern to olive leaves, foliage maximizes an elegant look with minimalist vibes.
MAKE A MINI ROSEMARY WREATH – All you need is a fresh prig rosemary, floral wire, and twine. Simply tie the rosemary to the floral wire using a small piece of twine, and shape it into a circle. These wreaths are so beautiful, not to mention fragrant and adds a nice touch to your table setting.
LAYERING – Layering can be key when it comes to styling a table. I usually keep it very neutral and warm with just a few seasonal pops of color. When a foundation of neutral items is used on your tabletop, it opens up the opportunity to add different seasonal details.
FLORAL ARRANGEMENTS – I have never seen a tablescape gone wrong with floral centerpiece arrangements. I love the juxtaposition of delicate flowers and foliage, incorporating the natural foraged branches with bold colors.
Simply creating a space that greets your guests and communicates the love and warmth through these uncomplicated details is what really matters. After all, hosting a party isn’t about the perfect centerpieces, it’s about cherishing the time with the ones you love.
